Entry for January 22, 2008

January 22, 2008

Today is very wintery and cold, we had a very chilly weekend. It was cold, and it did not matter that the winter temperatures were below normal. So I stayed in and nursed my cold. Did you know that there was a position that I had wanted to apply for and I couldn’t apply for the position with a local government. Do you know that the position closed on MLK day. I was like rats, I don’t have a computer and I thought no body would close a vacancy on a federal holiday, that most normal people observe. I see that some other people were observing this holiday as a time to counter the progress, Jan. 20, 2008, 7:38PM, Sharpton returns to preach about the Jena 6 before MLK Day, By MARY FOSTER, Associated Press. Group plans march against ‘Jena Six’ on MLK Day, By Abbey Brown and Billy Gunn. The (Alexandria, La.) Town Talk JENA, La. — Some Nationalist Movement protesters planning to march through Jena on Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be armed, according to their spokesman.

Also, it was a hell of a weekend. I stayed home because my dollar was weak. Also my 13 year old daughter ran away. Now it is apparent why so many teens are missing because the local government wants to go into the ghetto and tell the children that there mother is not doing enough, this is the stuff that crack heads are made of… Me being of Native American descent, I don’t trust the local or state of government comprised of Prince Georges County, Maryland. I pledge allegiance to my Federal Government. I am passionate about all people, in America, in which I would make the ultimate sacrifice. If I get into a situation that I don’t foresee. I feel sad for Kae because you got confused miserable adults that do not have your best interest, or to help with being a good student or obtaining job skills.

I also was reading that economy is a major concern for world markets, to the point that they are not performing well. “A global ‘Black Monday:’ Foreign stock markets crash as the American financial crisis spreads.” The problem in America is that I begged a white judge to stop the predatory lenders from raising interest rates and keeping accounts open against the customer’s will. To no avail, it was open season for any bank to default on the terms of a loan and to create different rates. The U.S. may not want to admit it but they are more now toward a depression than a recession. The interest and speacialty groups may in fact be the problem.

Lastly, I love the Hillary Clinton campaign. I also believe in sticking with the flock. HOwever, I like Obama and really getting tired of Bill bashing Barack Obama. I know with the sex scandal, that the Clinton’s are well aware of a problem, and still will confront it like a bull. I have been thinking about pulling my support away because this is too distracting from the main points. See Washington Post, http://www.readexpress.com, front page by Larry margasak (AP), Tuesday, January 22, 2008. “Obama: Criticism Off Base. “I have to say just broadly, you know, the former president, who I think all of us have a lot of regard for, has taken his advocacy on behlaf of his wife to a level that I think it is pretty troubling. You know, he continues to make statements that aren’t supported by the facts.” The bottom line is that Barack Obama will know more about what is a fact and what is not a fact. I wish that it would stop.

I also received this letter and It troubled me that anyone would conveniently hide behind a congregation that my ancestors’ created. My ancestor, came off of the Dawes Rolls and started the Red Hill United Church of Christ, on Buffalo Road, in Clayton, Johnston County, North Carolina. Enjoy my interesting e-mails, and wish me the best of blessings, as I try to recover from a bad cold and cough.

MESSAGES FROM THE E-MAIL BAG #1

Dear THALIA,

This past week brought some of the worst economic news I’ve heard in some time. Each day the stock market went lower, reports of layoffs went up, and speculation on all fronts pointed to an upcoming recession. President Bush pushed for an economic stimulus package and it seems as though that’s one thing he and the Congress will work together on. As my good friend and accountant Ken Savell told me the other night, “You know there’s a serious issue when BOTH Democrats and Republicans agree there’s an economic crisis.”

Now I’m not one to push bad news on you, but on the other hand, we all need to keep our eye on the trends. Just like those Meerkats in Africa stand tall and silent, listening for danger when they sense a lion nearby, we also must be on the lookout so we can better position ourselves when economic times get tough.

As you look at your employment and work situation this week. Be sure to consider the following:

1. Do the very best job you can. You have no control of your job security from the company point of view. You do however has a responsibility to work as hard and efficiently as you can. Even if you know layoffs are coming, do what you can to add value. You may be spared if layoffs come, and if not, you’ll look more valuable to a potential employer if you’re ready to hit the ground running for them.

2. Keep your eye out for opportunities. This may be the time to do a career change into a field that’s up and coming or may be one that’s valuable during economic downtimes. I love training and development, but I also know those are the first functions to be cut in a financial crisis. This year I’m focusing on outplacement work and coaching – an industry that’s viable during downtimes.

3. Be optimistic! Certainly the signs are pointing down for the economy, but could recession be a self-fulfilling prophecy? Absolutely. If we react as if the recession is coming, both in planning and spending, one will surely follow. Be prudent with your resources, but don’t paralyze yourself either.

I’m convinced that regardless of the situation, we can all be extremely successful now and in the coming years. After all, during the Great Depression, there were still people driving fancy cars, going to the country club, and eating in fine establishments. Nothing says we have to put our dreams and aspirations on hold. This week, pick your chin up and be as effective and efficient as you can at work and send double the effort into planning your future goals and accomplishment. 2008 can still be the best year ever for you!

Malcolm

MESSAGES FROM THE EMAIL BAG #2

A New Book from Cushcity.com’s Co-Founder
Why African Americans Can’t Get Ahead:
And How We Can Solve It With Group Economics
by Gwen Richardson

Have you ever wondered why, despite decades of economic development, civil rights legislation and welfare programs, the economic status of African Americans always seem to lag behind nearly every other group?

Why do members of other ethnic groups come to America from foreign countries and, within a few years, own most of the businesses in Black communities and, at the same time, treat us with utter contempt?

Even when a few African Americans experience economic success, such as entertainers and athletes, why is it that so many of them end up penniless after generating millions of dollars in wealth for others?

For years, the author pondered these same questions. Her research and quest for answers has led to eye-opening revelations about the fabric of American society and the fate of the African-American community. Why African Americans Can’t Get Ahead is a breakthrough book which not only defines the challenges, but presents cutting-edge solutions to these challenges with a group economics approach.

MESSAGES FROM THE E-MAIL BAG #3

A lot of us saw the picture earlier in the year of some of the Dems outside and they were either doing the National Anthem or the Pledge. Everyone including Hillary, had his had over his heart. But not Obama. He looked bored.

Who is Barack Obama?

Very interesting and something that should be considered in your
choice.

If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all
your contacts…this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us
here in our own United States…better heed this and pray about it and share it.

We checked this out on “ snopes.com“. It is factual. Check for yourself.
Who is Barack Obama?

Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu , Hawaii , to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel , Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHIEST from Wichita , Kansas .

Obama’s parents met at the University of Hawaii . When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya . His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia

When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocate to Indonesia . Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta . He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, “He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school.”

Obama’s political handlers are attempting to make it appear that he is not a radical.

Obama’s introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence
was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son’s education.

Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta .

Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United States , Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran.

Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegience nor will he show any reverence for our flag. While others place their hands over their hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag and slouches.

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama’s expected presidential candidacy.

The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level – through the President of the United States , one of their own!!!!

Please forward to everyone you know. Would you want this man leading our country?…… NOT ME!!!

MESSAGES FROM THE E-MAIL BAG #4

This week you should receive your Maryland Property Tax Assessment
notice in the mail. According to today's Washington Post, there is an
application inside the assessment which you need to fill out in order to
apply for the Homestead Property Tax Credit. This credit was
automatically given to you in the past, if you were eligible, which most
of us are. This year you must apply for it. The homestead credit limits
the amount of assessment increase on which a homeowner will pay property
taxes in that tax year on the one property actually used as the owner's
principal residence. THIS YEAR IF YOU DO NOT FILL OUT THE APPLICATION
YOU WILL NOT BE GRANTED THE HOMESTEAD TAX EXEMPTION AND YOUR TAX BILL
WILL GO UP ACCORDINGLY.
Please be sure to look for this application and fill it out.. If you
have neighbors who may not receive this email and may not be aware of
the application process that is needed this year, please pass
 this
along.

If you have further questions you can visit the Maryland Department of
Assessments website at www.dat.state.md.us <http://www.dat.state.md.us>
