Dear Supporter,

For years the Urban Film Series has been bringing you the best in film and independent cinema. Now we are moving towards something for children and health and this year’s Male Exhale is a critical fundraiser for upcoming programs for your families.

Come and support and also witness this year’s Greatest EduTainment event,

The Male Exhale. We can’t deal with everything, but we will deal with some things you want to hear about and we will bring you the best films out there today on these issues.

Tickets in Baltimore begin at 18 dollars (for seats that are still very good). Tickets in D.C. begin at 22 dollars. We hope to see you there and if you won’t attend, get tickets for someone else, perhaps your father and mother, grandmom and grandpops, or a teenage daughter or son so they can start becoming more sophisticated in their understanding of relationships, before it is too late.

We will have many people that specialize in many programs and support areas that you need to know about for yourself or family members.

TO PURCHASE TICKETS IN PERSON, visit the Lyric Box Office at 140 West Mount Royal Avenue, or the Lincoln Theatre at 1215 U Street, NW between 12th and 13th Streets, NW, Washington, D.C.

If you are planning on walking up for tickets, you should be fine. We chose far larger venues for this year’s program than last year (see pics to the right of the crowd and also visit to see the program review where you see Diary of A Tired Black Man).

TO PURCHASE TICKETS BY PHONE, call Ticketmaster at 410-547-SEAT, 202-397-SEAT or 703-573-SEAT. All events are on sale through and available at Record and Tape Traders, the First Mariner Arena, the MCI Center and many other outlet locations throughout the Baltimore-Washington area. The Lyric is also a Ticketmaster outlet for other venues in the Baltimore-Washington area.

The Male Exhale – Baltimore City Paper’s Critic Pick
By Brett McCabe

Since 2004 the nonprofit Next Generation Awareness Foundation has sponsored the Urban Film Series as a way to bring independent cinema and arts to underserved communities–African-American communities specifically–as a way of exposing people to both new media and the issues that affect the community. This year the program has stops across the country–Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Harlem, Memphis, Baltimore, and more–and its program offers the series’ first Father’s Day weekend “Male Exhale.” The two movies screening–the relationship drama Diary of a Tired Black Man starring Jimmy Jean-Louis and the stereotype-busting documentary What Black Men Think–address the often overlooked personal and professional inner life of the adult African-American man. >> Read More
