The Pillow of Jacob: The Scone of Scotland

December 4, 2009

This is the reason to celebrate the season. I have hundreds of devotions that are mailed through regular and e-mail to me, and I would like to share this one with you, it is from RCB Ministries, wrote that Our Lord Jesus Christ healed many of their physical blindness during His time on earth. But of greater concern to Him were the spiritual blind? Do you agree to disagree or disagree to agree? Why? RBC goes on to write that many of the religious authorities during his time investigated to see if Jesus had as a matter of fact he healed a blind man, many refused to believe that Jesus healed the blind man and was not a sinner (John 9:13-34). Then Jesus responded in verse 39 of the 9th Chapter of John, 39And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind (C.P. Hia, May 20, 2009).

In addition, the Apostle Paul wrote of this spiritual blindness, he said in the 2nd Book of Corinthians, 3)But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:  4)In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Again, a Psalmist wrote in the 130th verse of the 119th Song, 130) The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. A World In Darkness Needs The Light Of Jesus. “Come to the Light, ’tis shining for thee; Sweetly the Light has dawned upon me; Once I was blind, but now I can see: The Light of the World is Jesus. – Bliss”

Jesus said that we should always repent to let the world see our light. Matthew 4:13-17, 13And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

 14That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

 15The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

 16The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

 17From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

I read a lot of perspectives from different religions about the meaning of Jacob’s dream and the pillar of stone that he laid his head on. Some I researched because of shock, well I couldn’t believe their interpretation of him laying his head on the stone. Then I went back to read the interpretations’ of the ladder he had envisioned that he had saw in his dream. Again, I was shocked and dismayed. Then I realized that there are many that do not see or hear the Gospel, which is the Power of God. I thought to myself, “how could I be angry with a person who had a different literal interpretation than me.” All I knew was that, I had a different upbringing and I had it was necessary to honor our ancestors and to have a personal savior, one that partook of my nature. Deep down inside that still did not stop me from wanting to scream to the top of my lungs about the stone that my ancestor laid his head on. I thought to myself, that is it, it is about trying to decide which stone that Jacob laid his head on? Is this some kind of joke, or do you think this is funny? If I were insensitive to your ethnic heritage, then you probably wouldn’t think it is fair. Nevertheless God is impartial and so am I. Read Hebrews 2:17, “17Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people (and John 1:14).

In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God. God created everything with His Spirit, the Spirit of God. In the book of Genesis, Beresheit, it is Holy Writ,
1) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  2) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.  3) And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.  4) And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. So with all that being said, I, Thalia feel that it is necessary to have a savior and that he should have come to the earth as God incarnate.

Here we read a Chasidic Commentary of Jewish Literature for Genesis 28:18, for the memorial portion of Vayeitzei, wrote “But earlier in it says, “And he took of the stones of the place, and put them under his head.” This tells us that the stones gathered themselves together into one place and each one said: “Upon me shall this righteous man rest his head.” Thereupon all were merged into one. (Talmud Chulin 91b).

If we read a Chasidic Commentary of Jewish Literature for Genesis 32 through Genesis 36, Memorial portion of Vayishlach, wrote “Our sages tell us that before G-d created our world, He created an “earlier” state of existence — the world of Tohu (“Chaos”). But this was a world of “much light and scant vessels.” As a result, the vessels burst and the light escaped. G-d then created “our” world — the world of Tikkun (“Correction”), constructed with “broad containers and scant light” that allow it to function and endure.”

Next, there is a conservative Commentary that was posted on Blogger.com, and he wrote “The Midrash sees another dimension to this amazing vision: In the Hebrew, it says that the angels were olim v’yordim bo, rising up and descending—the Hebrew “bo” literally means, “on him.” “R. Hiyya the Elder and R. Yannai disagreed: One maintained: [The angels] were ascending and descending the ladder; while the other said: they were ascending and descending on him–on Jacob! The first view is clear. But that they were ascending and descending on Jacob must mean that some were exalting him and others chiding him, dancing, leaping, and maligning him. … it is you [said the angels] whose features are engraved on high; they ascended on high and saw his features and they descended bellow and found him sleeping. This can be compared to a king [whose image] was found sitting in his council chamber in judgment, while at the same time he lay asleep in the corridor.” (Breshit Rabbah 68:18)

He continues by saying, “In the Talmud, Rabbi Yochanan teaches us the following statement: “Wherever you find the strength of the Holy One, praised be God, you find his Humility…This is written in the Torah: ‘For the LORD your God is Elohei Ha’Elohim, Va’Adonai Ha’Adonim, ‘is God supreme and Lord supreme, ‘HaEl HaGadol v’hagibor v’hanora, ‘the great, the mighty and the awesome God!’, but says right after that, ‘Oseh mishpat y’tom v’almanah,’ (Deut. 10:17-18)but [God also] upholds the cause of the orphan and the widow.” (B. Talmud Megila 31a) Here, too, just like in Jacob’s ladder dream, there is the realm of the heavenly heights, and the realm of the lowly and humble here on Earth. In Jacob’s dream, it is Jacob himself, according to the Midrash, who is both exalted in heaven and humble here on earth. Here in the Talmud, God, too is both exalted in heaven, and with the humble and powerless on earth.”

Lastly the conservative Rabbi’ says, “The Baal Shem Tov, the founder of Chasidism, once taught that if we want to understand the greatness of God, we must understand that everything of this earth is like a mirror image of the Divine. He taught that God’s greatness and majesty IS God’s humility: they’re not separate. Where do we first meet God in the Torah? The book of Genesis says ‘V’Ruach Elohim m’rachefet al pnei hamayim,” the spirit of God hovered on the surface of the waters (Gen. 1:2). Just as the water always seeks the lowest place, so too does God. Find the lowest, simplest place, and you will find the True majesty of God!”

I, Thalia wrote the following commentary on the Memorial Portion of Vayishlach (Genesis 32:4 through Genesis 36:43). Read Commentary of Thalia Sanders, of Genesis 32nd Chapter:

Jacob wrestled with a messenger and dislocated his joint and received a new name in . The sinew is symbolical, because each time it demonstrated that the Lord is preparing you to be redeemed in the final day. The first example is Jacob wrestling with an man. I bet he saw at least one large grey hovering figure over him, much like our main guardian angel could look like (Genesis 12:3; Exodus 23:18) prior to witnessing for the Lord, and some of us have said that he has been on the earth, because God told them. I have talked to a lot of people who have said a lot of things, but no one can argue with you about revelation knowledge. Nevertheless, Jacob demonstrated that whatever you give me Lord, I will wrestle with it, he wouldn’t let the angel go until he blessed him, it was the only way to be blessed, and then he would be satisfied (Genesis 32:24-30).

As people we have a lot more in common than you think, we are no different when it comes to the simple things or the complex things in life, and God knows nothing is more important that our salvation, to be assured that we will be redeemed – into Eternal life. Some people have said that if that is all I hope for then I am hopeless and helpless, I disagree. I have seen the mighty hand of God. I am not afraid to be a martyr and to suffer. I can only go through what my family has gone through and suffer what they have suffered in this life, and God knows nothing is more precious than our salvation, by the way we sing, dance and jump for joy.

How many are concerned about your salvation and redemption?

For me, I was very concerned about my mother just as much as she was concerned about me. As a matter of fact a few nights before she died, all I could do was toss and turn and run up and down my bed. I literally wrestled with the fact that my Mother would no longer need her physical body anymore that she was going home to be with the Lord. I was foolish and selfish t a time that I should have been a very rational thinker, as a matter of fact to linear thinking. Selfish as it may seem, I struggled to accept, praise, acclaim, extol, honor, exalt, worship laud, celebrate and glorify this God, the author of Life who makes alive (Deuteronomy 32:38).Yet, during my mourning that never ceased for at least seventeen years, the grief that only covered my face, had a difficult time hiding the Countenance of God. Losing a parent is just as serious as losing a child, because it is unnatural and like something is missing.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand an affixed my seal of officer at Pittsboro August 24, 1845. Signed, N. A. Stedman CCC

Just imagine what a soldier could be doing if he were in heaven after serving his country in the Continental Line. I bet he wished her the best. I bet he hoped that his children would not forget him. Most of all, I bet he was hoping that his family would love God and understand that he is not with them in the body but he is with God and his son, Jesus Christ. (Revelations 4:1-9; Revelations 6:1-17; Exodus 39:1-33; Deuteronomy 16:1-22; Acts 1:1-26); and

Leviticus 23 – Feast of weeks, feast of the tabernacle and the feast of unleavened bread to observe the ordinances and statutes forever throughout your generations, in the Month of Abib. The explanation of the why the three feast along with the feast of first fruits are important and the timing are thoroughly explained in the twenty-third Chapter of the book of Leviticus (23) and verses 1-7, and 20, and verses 21 through 31, and verses 32 through 44.

Genesis 28:10, In verse 10 the pillow that Jacob laid his head on and had a dream is also known as the Jacob Pillar-Pillow Stone, (also known as the Scottish Stone of Scone). The Stone belongs to the House of Stuart, from the House of Israel, See Scone Palace, http://www.scone-palace.net/. As of Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 the Stone of Scotland has been returned to the Scottish people, http://www.scone-palace.co.uk/content/view/41/43/.

10And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.

11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, “Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.”

17 And he was afraid, and said, “How dreadful is this place! This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”

18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:

22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.”

Although Jesus used many parables, he also spoke of heavenly angels that were well able to put Chaos back into order. God’s word can do anything, nothing is impossible with God.

Matthew 16:36-4336Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

 37He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

 38The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

 39The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

 40As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

 41The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

 42And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

 43Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Luke 1:8-11 – 8And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course,

 9According to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the Temple of the Lord.

 10And the whole multitude of the people was praying without at the time of incense.

 11And there appeared unto him an “Angel of the LORD,” standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

Luke 2:9 – 9And, lo, “the Angel of the LORD” came upon them, and the glory of the LORD shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

Well that’s all for tonight. I have to close up. I could go on and on about the anointed stone pillow of Jacob. It is a very precious and sensitive issue to the Gaelic people, and the plight of all their descendants. The very stone that Jacob laid his head on was certainly anointed, and to this day all of the Kings and Queens of the England and Scotland (the UK) are crowned on this stone. Truly God is faithful, he hastens to perform his word, 10And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. 13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; 14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

In closing Jesus taught about the Kingdom of God, his doctrine was by way of parable, and he said unto his disciples in Mark 4: 1-13, “11And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

 12That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.

 13And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

Although the Scone is in Scotland, which was brought there by the descendants of Aaron, from the tribe of Levi, a son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, brethren to Jesus, our Lord makes it very clear what it takes to be a disciple and a brother in the anointing, the Christ (Mark 3:35; Matthew 12:46-50; and Luke 8:19-21), the son of Man – a descendant of King David, from the Lion Tribe of Judah (Matthew 1:1-6). Remember Jesus teachings and that is to treat everybody with righteousness and be blessed, Jesus said, 28But he said, (A) “Blessed rather are those(B) who hear the word of God and(C) keep it!” (Luke 11:28).
