NUMBERS ONE:
 1And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,
 2Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls;
 3From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.
 4And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.
 5And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: of the tribe of Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur.
 6Of Simeon; Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
 7Of Judah; Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
 8Of Issachar; Nethaneel the son of Zuar.
 9Of Zebulun; Eliab the son of Helon.
 10Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim; Elishama the son of Ammihud: of Manasseh; Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
 11Of Benjamin; Abidan the son of Gideoni.
 12Of Dan; Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
 13Of Asher; Pagiel the son of Ocran.
 14Of Gad; Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
 15Of Naphtali; Ahira the son of Enan.
 16These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.
 17And Moses and Aaron took these men which are expressed by their names:
 18And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls.
 19As the LORD commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.
 20And the children of Reuben, Israel’s eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
 21Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.
 22Of the children of Simeon, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, those that were numbered of them, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
 23Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.
 24Of the children of Gad, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
 25Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.
 26Of the children of Judah, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
 27Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Judah, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.
 28Of the children of Issachar, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
 29Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.
 30Of the children of Zebulun, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
 31Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.

 32Of the children of Joseph, namely, of the children of Ephraim, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
 33Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred.
 34Of the children of Manasseh, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
 35Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.
 36Of the children of Benjamin, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
 37Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.
 38Of the children of Dan, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
 39Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Dan, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.
 40Of the children of Asher, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
 41Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Asher, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.
 42Of the children of Naphtali, throughout their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
 43Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.
 44These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.
 45So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel;
 46Even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
 47But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.
 48For the LORD had spoken unto Moses, saying,
 49Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:
 50But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.
 51And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
 52And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.
 53But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.

 54And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they.
(Numbers 1, King James Version)

COMMENTARY:

This memorial portion starts from the first chapter of the book of Numbers, to the fourth chapter of the book of Numbers. The memorial portion of this book is called Bamidbar, which means numbering by God, in the desert. The children of Israel were numbered in the desert by God. There are very few times that God speaks of numbering the children of Israel, now King David numbered the children of Israel however, there were grave repercussions for numbering the children of Israel. Only God can number the children of Israel. The children are numbered by God because the children of Israel count, the reason the children of Israel count is because the children of Israel have been redeemed by God, and are his chosen people. Why? I think because the children of Israel were willing to share their glory with the world, and that is God. I have met people who are not willing to share their glory with anyone, but not the children of Israel. Even when Christ walked the earth, before he would share the glory of God with anyone,  he shared his glory and the Holy Ghost had not ascended on him. The children of Israel, not the gentile church, gave birth to the seed that would one day bruise the serpent’s head and all points of hell would come after Him, and it is Jesus who is caught up in the throne of God – information that the Pharisees can not know and is hidden to the necked eye, persecution is always hidden to the enemy, but once you know who the son of Perdition is and the son of Perdition knows who you are then it is on.

Although Moses, my lord, is the perfect first born he believed God in righteousness that this is the hour that his people would receive atonement from the passover, and redemption from the egyptian tyranny, and so he numbered the firstborn of God, a people that God had looked upon in their distress that had been caused by Pharaoh and his servants: the sorrows, the oppression, and the affliction. Yes, one of the tiniest nation tribes in the whole world, among gentiles that now number eight billion (2010), that are stronger than their foes was about to be delivered. After the children of Israel were delivered, then God asked Moses to number each person according to his tribal flag, his fathers house – any man age twenty and up.

Wow, our faith ought to be like that…., that God numbers every head on our head that he keeps his promises to our loved ones in the grave and that we will receive ultimate and final atonement and ultimate and final redemption. Families are forever.  Amen.

MICAH 5:7-9,15
 7And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.
 8And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
 9Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.
 10And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots:
 11And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds:
 12And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:
 13Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands.
 14And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of thee: so will I destroy thy cities.
 15And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard. (Micah 5:7-15, King James Version)

MARK 14:12-31
 12And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?
 13And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.
 14And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
 15And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
 16And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
 17And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.
 18And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.
 19And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, “Is it I?” and another said, “Is it I?”
 20And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.
 21The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
 22And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
 23And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
 24And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
 25Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
 26And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
 27And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
 28But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.
 29But Peter said unto him, “Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.”
 30And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.
 31But he spake the more vehemently, “If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise.” Likewise also said they all. (Mark 14:12-31, King James Version)

Jesus Prays in Gethsemane
Mark 14:32-42
 32And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.
 33And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;
 34And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
 35And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
 36And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
 37And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
 38Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
 39And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.
 40And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.
 41And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
 42Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand. (Mark 14:32-42, King James Version)
